The Oak Harbor High School cheer squad brought home a first-place trophy from the Eastlake High School competition Saturday, Dec. 18.

Competing in the small varsity division, the 12 Wildcats performed a “flawless routine,” according to assistant coach Lauren Albritton, to nab first.

Oak Harbor earned a score of 210, which helped the Wildcats reach their goal of improving on last week’s effort of 160.

In an email response, Albritton said the team’s lone senior, Omani Welch, remarked after the competition, “We did so great on the mat, I was so happy with our performance.”

The Wildcats, who have already qualified for the state finals Jan. 22 in Everett, compete next at Kentwood High School Jan. 8 in the Sequoia Invitational.
