Jerrin Concepcion of the North Whidbey Aquatic Club joined a team representing Pacific Northwest Swim for the Western Zone Championships in Grand Junction, Colo., Aug. 7 to 11.
The meet included, along with PNS, teams from Inland Empire (Eastern Washington), Snake River (Idaho), Oregon, Colorado, New Mexico, Hawaii, Montana and Wyoming.
Concepcion, competing in the boys 10-and-under division, swam personal bests in four of six individual events.
Those PRs came in the 100 backstroke (1:28, 19th place), 50 freestyle (36.68, 16th), 50 butterfly (37.32, 15th) and 100 free (1:16.79, 21st).
He also competed in the 100 fly (1:27.59, 14th) and 50 backstroke (41.33, 24th).
In relay action, Concepcion swam the anchor leg as PNS won the 200 medley relay (2:21.1) and finished second in the 200 free relay (2:06.99).
In addition to the pool events, Concepcion participated in several open water races. Those results, however, are not yet available, according to NWAC coach Neil Romney.
