The Coupeville High School tennis team tripped host Chimacum 6-1 Tuesday, April 26, to clinch its second consecutive Olympic League title.

The Wolves (8-3) remain perfect in conference play with a 4-0 mark with two matches remaining. Chimacum (3-8) and Klahowya (5-7) sit at 1-3 in the Olympic League.

Coupeville eked out a 4-3 win against Chimacum April 14, and Tuesday’s 6-1 score indicated an easier Wolves win this time around. Not really.

Five of the seven matches went to three sets, and all five featured tie breakers, four won by the Wolves.

In first singles and first doubles, Valen Trujillo (6-1, 6-4) and the duo of Sage Renninger and Payton Aparicio (6-4, 6-1) cruised to wins. The other matches were nail-biters.

Sydney Autio captured second singles 6-2, 3-6, 10-3; while Bree Daigneault bounced back from losing the first set 6-2 to win 6-4, 12-10.

In second doubles, McKenzie Bailey and Jazmine Franklin pulled out a 6-4, 1-6, 10-3 victory; and Julia Borges and Julianne Sem escaped with a 6-3, 2-6, 10-8 win in fourth doubles.

The Wolves only loss came in the day’s closest match, where Maggie Crimmins and Kamryn St. Onge fell 7-6(7-3), 4-6, 10-8.
