Coupeville drops game to Nooksack Valley / Boys basketball

A flurry of first-quarter points led Nooksack Valley to a 71-48 win over the host Coupeville High School boys basketball team Saturday, Dec. 21.

The Pioneers raced to a 26-7 first-period lead and continued to pull away, leading 38-18 at halftime and 60-30 after three quarters.

Hawthorne Wolfe recorded 13 points for Coupeville; Mason Grove had 10, Jacobi Pilgrim 8, Ulrik Wells 6, Jered Brown 6, Jean Lund Olsen 3 and Tucker Hall 2.

Clancy Coppinger tallied a game-high 20 points for Nooksack Valley (6-1).

Coupeville (3-5) plays at Chimacum (0-7) at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3.
