The District 3 1A boys basketball play-in game in Coupeville tonight (Thursday, Feb. 9) between the Wolves and Bellevue Christian will begin at 6 p.m. instead of the originally scheduled 7.
Coupeville (3-16), the No. 3 seed out of the Olympic League, lost to Bellevue Christian (9-11), the fourth-place team from the Nisqually League, 66-38 in a non-league game Dec. 16.
The winner goes to Cascade Christian (9-11), the Nisqually League’s second-place team, at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, in another loser-out game.
That winner advances to play Olympic League champion Port Townsend (15-4) in the four-team, double-elimination portion of the tournament Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Bellarmine Prep. The final four teams will need to win two games to claim one of the two berths in the state tournament.
The Coupeville girls earned a berth in the final four of the girls District 3 1A tournament by winning the Olympic League title.
They open district play at 6 p.m. at Bellarmine Prep against the survivor of Vashon Island (5-15), Chimacum (11-9) and Seattle Christian (14-2).
Like in the boys tournament, teams in the final four will need to win two games to go on to the state tournament.
