Savalza, a linebacker and running back, was one of the leaders of the Coupeville defense last fall. In addition to his exploits on the field, he was noted for his school spirit, directing the Wolves’ rooting section during volleyball and basketball games.

Cliff Gillies was a long-time Washington state coach, principal and director of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association.

The award is given at each state school for participation in student activities, academic achievement, sportsmanship and citizenship.

Walstad and Chan captained each of their teams. Walstad played volleyball, basketball and softball, and Chan competed in basketball and baseball.
