Riding a strong defense, the Oak Harbor volleyball team slipped by Glacier Peak 3-2 in Snohomish Thursday, Sept. 22.
The victory upped Oak Harbor’s league record to 2-0, 3-2 overall; Glacier Peak is 1-1 and 2-3.
The Wildcats face Everett (1-1, 4-1) at home Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m.
In the five-set win over the Grizzlies (25-22, 17-25, 25-16, 18-25, 15-10), Oak Harbor coach Kerri Molitor said the “defense was good tonight” in a “tough match” against a “good” Glacier Peak team.
Christina Alexander paced the defense with 28 digs, while Janine DeGuzman collected 22; Kayleigh Harper had six blocks.
On the offensive side, Roshel Muzzall had 13 kills and three aces, and DeGuzman added 13 kills and Harper six. Taylor Nienhuis set it all up with 32 assists.
Molitor said, “They played much better than earlier this week. The team was working well together to get the job done.”
