The North Whidbey Aquatic Club received three firsts each from Maira Sulin and Ashleigh Merrill in a tri-meet with the Thunderbird Aquatic Club of Anacortes and Tigersharks Swimming of Lake Stevens Friday, July 22, at John Vanderzicht Memorial Pool.
Sulin picked up wins in the 50 butterfly (43.68), 50 backstroke (47.10) and 50 breaststroke (52.67).
Merrill took the 25 fly (23.10), 100 individual medley (1:53.66) and 25 breast (29.23).
Other Aquajet winners included Frances Empinado, Samantha Hines, Erica Sugatan, Jacob Thompson, Alexander Toney, Kelsey Vogt and Lawrence Zapanta.
One-hundred percent personal records were recorded by Wyatt Azevedo, Carlos Bishai, Angele Dennen, Caitlin Dennen, Sophia Dickinson, Sydney Dickinson, Sarah Head, Michael Johnson, Kenzie Judd, Chloe LaRue, Andrea Ruben, Sugatan, Lauren Vagt, Kelsey Vogt, Nicole Vogt and Cole Weinstein.
Jerrin Concepcion achieved a Pacific Northwest Swimming cut.
NWAC Swimmer of the Meet was Sophia Dickinson for aggressive racing, 100 percent individual and relay PRs, dropping an average of five seconds per 50 meters, swimming strong relay legs and dropping seven seconds in the 50 fly (48.70) and four seconds in 50 free (37.59).
NWAC heads to the PNS Championships in Federal Way, July 28-31, where it will field a team of 23.
The North Whidbey Aquatic Club is a competitive swimming program of the North Whidbey Park and Recreation District. It includes swimmers of all abilities and ages from 6 through college.
Tryouts occur Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the city pool from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. New swimmers should be able to swim a length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke.
The first two weeks are free.
