The Arlington High School softball team blew open a close game by scoring 14 runs over the final two innings to stop host Oak Harbor 18-3 in six innings Friday, April 27.
The Eagles (3-11, 3-13) led only 4-2 going into the fifth inning and then scored seven runs with the help of three Wildcat errors to put the game away.
Oak Harbor scored twice in the second inning to take an early lead. Kaitlinn Scheer started the rally with a base hit and Eleanor Tucker reached on an error.
Scheer scored on Tamara Bennett’s ground out, and Miranda Wilson singled in Tucker.
Oak Harbor scored its other run in the fifth when Samantha Payne boarded on a fielder’s choice and Scheer singled.
Brooke Gilham and Rylee Joseph also singled for Oak Harbor in the game.
Oak Harbor (2-12, 2-14) travels to Marysville Getchell (7-6, 7-6) for a 4 p.m. game Monday, April 30.
