Klahowya, the four-time Olympic League champion, brought the Coupeville High School soccer season to a close by beating the Wolves 3-0 Thursday, May 10, in a loser-out district tournament match in Silverdale.
The Eagles (14-3-1), who have not lost a match in the Olympic League’s 1A division in the past four years, topped the Wolves for the 11th consecutive time.
“It was a fairly close game,” Coupeville coach Kyle Nelson said. “They made us pay for a couple of mistakes in the first half and added one more in the second half.
“And they were able to keep us at bay, though we did have a few pretty good shots. They definitely put some attention on their defense to keep us out.
“Overall a good game for us; we were in it until the very end.”
Coupeville finished the season with a 7-9-2 record.
Derek Leyva tallied 24 goals this season, setting a new school record, and helped the Wolves score 66 as a team, also a CHS record.
