The Oak Harbor High School tennis team lost 5-2 at Arlington Thursday, Sept. 18.
“We lost a close match, even though the score does not reflect that,” coach Horace Mells said. “Third singles lost in three sets and third doubles lost two tie-breaker sets.”
Arlington (1-1, 1-5) had played five matches to Oak Harbor’s two heading into the contest, making them more “match ready,” Mells said.
Jackson Wezeman (6-2, 6-2) and Carter Saar (6-4, 6-2) collected Oak Harbor’s points by winning first and second singles.
Oak Harbor (0-1, 0-3) meets Marysville Getchell (1-0, 1-4) at home at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, to make up Wednesday’s rainout. The Wildcats host Stanwood (2-0, 3-2) at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23.
