Everett defeats Oak Harbor wrestlers

Oak Harbor led 15-6 after three matches, then the Seagulls won the next six to take control.

After the Wildcats’ Ryuta Meany was pinned (4:45) at 130 pounds, Joshua Crebbin won 6-3 at 135. Oak Harbor followed that with pins from Colton Elliot (140, 2:29) and Brandon Stratton (145, 3:36).

The Seagulls won eight of the remaining nine matches.

Justin Everett was pinned (2:33) at 160, Collin Higingbotham was pinned (1:17) at 171, Zach Loescher lost 7-3 at 189, Drew Culver lost 7-1 at 215 and Phil Rodgers was pinned (:29) at 285.

Corey Trimbur broke the streak and picked up Oak Harbor’s only other win with a 15-3 major decision at 103.

Brandon Strickland lost a major decision (15-3) at 112, Kadden Paggao was pinned (1:12) at 119 and Cody Fakkema was pinned (1:13) at 125.

Everett evened its Wesco record at 1-1 and upped its season mark to 3-2.

Oak Harbor (0-2, 1-2) travels to Squalicum High School in Bellingham Saturday, Dec. 19, to take part in the Graham Morin Memorial Tournament at 10 a.m.
