Oak Harbor High School senior Alexa Findley is “going home” to play college softball.
Findley signed a letter of intent Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Oak Harbor High School to play collegiate softball for California Lutheran University (Thousand Oaks).
Findley moved from Poway, Calif., a suburb of San Diego, to Oak Harbor in the seventh grade. South California has always felt like home to her, she said, and she is “looking forward to moving back.”
Besides the location, Findley chose Cal Lutheran because of its campus and its emphasis on academics.
Findley, a 3.98 student, said, “Academics comes first.”
She hopes to major in multimedia or computer science.
She also considered going to San Diego State University and the University of Texas for academics and not to play softball.
Findley, a catcher and utility player, started for Oak Harbor since her freshman year and is a two-time, second-team all-Wesco North selection.
She plays select softball for the Skagit Valley Thunder.
Findley will be joined at Cal Lutheran by her twin sister, Kelly. Kelly Findley, however, will not play softball for the Regals.
