The Oak Harbor High School girls golf team picked up a first and second in two three-team matches this week.
Tuesday, April 20, the Wildcats scored 109 points to top Snohomish (89) and host Arlington (53) at the Gleneagle Golf Course.
Melany Cone was the medalist and scored 25 points in the modified Stableford system in the nine-hole match. She was followed closely by Simone Hamilton with 24, Sasha Olson with 21, Ashley Johnson with 20, Millie Goebel with 21 and Mara Cortez with six.
Tuesday, April 21, Marysville-Pilchuck, playing nine holes on its home course at Cedarcrest, defeated Oak Harbor 122-111. Cascade did not field a complete team and did not score.
Cone finished second with 29 points to M-P’s Abby Beauchamp’s 31. Johnson was the next Wildcat with 25, Goebel had 23, Hamilton 22, Olson 12 and Cortez 10.
Oak Harbor coach Andy Wesley said, “Marysville is a tough team with lots of depth, but I still believe we can take them.”
Oak Harbor travels twice next week before returning home Thursday, May 6, to face Everett and Stanwood at 3 p.m. at the Whidbey Golf and Country Club.
