Goals hard to come by for Wolves | Soccer

Oh, those goal-scoring blues.

Oh, those goal-scoring blues.

The Coupeville soccer team suffered its five straight shutout when visiting Granite Falls tipped the Wolves 2-0 Tuesday, Sept. 27.

Coupeville has yet to score in its five Cascade Conference matches after opening the season with a 4-1 win over Concrete in a nonleague match. The Wolves hope to solve the goal-scoring puzzle when they go to Sultan (0-7) Thursday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m.

Granite Falls dominated the first half but failed to score. Ironically, once the play evened out in the second period the Tigers were able to sneak in two goals.

Coach Mike Thornton said, “It took us 25 to 30 minutes to settle down. We finally figured it out and our ball movement was better the second half.”

He added, “We as so close to getting over the hump.”
