Austin Fields, the first student to represent Coupeville High School in a state golf tournament, finished 37th in the 1A championship meet at the Home Course in DuPont outside of Tacoma Tuesday and Wednesday, May 24 and 25.
After shooting an 84 the first day, good for 34th place and one stroke above the cut line, Fields carded an 85 in round two for a 169 total. That put the Coupeville sophomore in 37th place in the tournament which started with 80 players.
Since Coupeville does not have a golf team, Fields played for Oak Harbor High School in 2010 and practiced and traveled with South Whidbey High School this spring.
