The visiting Glacier Peak High School softball team took control from the beginning in a 16-3 win over Oak Harbor Tuesday, April 19.

The visiting Glacier Peak High School softball team took control from the beginning in a 16-3 win over Oak Harbor Tuesday, April 19.

The Grizzlies (6-2, 6-4) used nine hits and four errors to push across eight runs in the first inning and six in the second on the way to the five-inning win.

Oak Harbor scored one run in the first inning and two in the fourth.

Alexa Findley led off with a double and scored on a wild pitch in the opening inning.

The only other hits the Wildcats registered came in the fourth when Kelly Findley, Trish Sarns and Audrey Howard hit consecutive singles to load the bases. Back-to-back fielders choices from Taylor Heidt and Taylor Wilson drove in the runs.

Wildcat starting pitcher Sarns struck out eight.

Oak Harbor (2-6, 3-8) hosts Lynnwood (2-6, 3-7) at 4 p.m. Friday, April 22.
