The U-17 Islanders snapped a two match losing streak with a 1-0 win over the visiting Santos Football Club Sunday, Sept. 28, at Fort Nugent Park.
“These are the kind of games you have to win to become champions,” coach Curtis Vieke said. “Two strong teams and you come out ahead.”
Keagan Snell scored the game’s only goal, which is “a great payoff from all his hard work on the field,” Vieke said.
Vieke also praised the work of Lake Smith, Josh Coe, Jared Hoyt and Cameron Costner, who were “a solid brick wall that earned us the clean sheet.”
The Islanders play the South Whidbey Reign at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at Fort Nugent Park.
