If there was any doubt Klahowya would continue to dominate Olympic League 1A soccer again this season, the Eagles dashed the thought after their first cycle through the conference.
Klahowya defeated Coupeville 7-0 Tuesday, March 28, in Silverdale to up its league record to 3-0. The Eagles have never lost an Olympic League 1A match since the division was formed three years ago, a string of 15 wins.
Klahowya has outscored Port Townsend, Chimacum and Coupeville 18-1 in three matches this spring.
“Klahowya is a very good team, especially on their turf field,” Coupeville coach Kyle Nelson said.
The Wolves blanked the Eagles for the first 35 minutes, then Klahowya struck for two goals late in the first half, and that started a flood that continued early in the second period.
“Once they started to substitute some starters off, we were able to get some opportunities, narrowly missing twice,” Nelson said. “It was a good game to work on our defense and will give us some things to look at to improve.”
Coupeville (1-1, 2-3-1) plays Port Townsend (1-1, 3-2) at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 31, at Mickey Clark Field.
