Krantz earns all-league honors / Boys golf

Oak Harbor High School freshman golfer Nick Krantz placed fifth in the Wesco North divisional tournament Monday, May 8, at Arlington’s Gleneagle Golf Course.

The effort helped Krantz also earn a district berth and a spot on the all-conference first team.

Krantz finished the regular season fifth in league points; the first six were named to the all-league first team.

The top 30 in league points advance to the district tournament Monday and Tuesday, May 15 and 16, at Everett’s Walter Hall Golf Course.

Krantz will be joined at district by teammates Haven Brown, who was 15th in league points, and Nick Whitley, who was 20th. Nate Thompson just missed a district berth by taking 32nd.

Everett’s Jozef Koznek was the league champion with 283 points; Krantz scored 258, Brown 194, Whitley 162 and Thompson 96.

Oak Harbor finished sixth out of seven schools in the final North standings; Everett claimed the championship.

At the divisional tournament, Oak Harbor did not qualify for a team score because only four Wildcats competed. Five are needed to earn a spot in the team standings.

Everett won the meet, and Connor Stephens of Arlington earned medalist honors with a two-under 70.

Krantz shot 77 (good for fifth), Thompson 87 (18th), Brown 89 (24th) and Whitley 97 (31st).
