The Oak Harbor High School boys wrestling team scored the meet’s final 19 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Wildcats fell 40-31 at Marysville Getchell Wednesday, Jan. 9, in the Wesco opener.
Oak Harbor (0-1, 4-3) hosts Snohomish (0-2, 2-2) and Everett (1-1, 4-2) in a double-dual match at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10.
The Oak Harbor-Getchell match began at 132 pounds, and the Wildcats’ Caleb Fitzgerald opened the evening with a 10-3 win. Two matches later, Blake McBride (145 pounds) won by a fall, then the Chargers rattled off seven straight wins to secure the match.
Oak Harbor forfeited two matches, which proved to be the difference in the final score.
