King’s, unbeaten in North Sound Conference play, continued its dominance by defeating host Coupeville 76-31 Tuesday, Jan. 22.
The tall and talented Knights took control from the get-go, using an effective press to jump to a 31-1 lead in the first quarter.
Jered Brown’s free throw was all the Wolves could muster in the opening period, but Coupeville’s offense picked up in the second quarter behind a pair of three-balls from Mason Grove and another from Gavin Knoblich.
King’s (8-0, 14-4) led 52-14 at halftime.
Coupeville’s Hawthorne Wolfe scored 7 points in the third quarter as King’s took a 64-24 lead into the fourth period.
Hawthorne finished with 9 points, Grove 8, Brown 6, Knoblich 3, Xavier Murdy 3 and Ulrik Wells 2.
Coupeville (1-6, 2-12) plays its final home game of the season at 6:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, against Cedar Park Christian (4-3, 8-9).
The Wolves hold a one game lead over Granite Falls (0-7, 2-14) for the fifth and final playoff berth awarded the conference with three games remaining. The two teams face off in the regular season finale Friday, Feb. 1, in Granite Falls.
