With a medalist round by Joanna Leete and some help from the junior varsity squad, the Oak Harbor High School girls golf team defeated Stanwood and host Marysville-Pilchuck at the Cedarcrest Golf Course Thursday, March 27.

Oak Harbor topped Stanwood and M-P 267-279-354.

Leete shot an eight-over 43 in nine holes and teammate Resego Mooki fired a 46 to earn the top two individual spots in the match.

“Resego had a solid round that helped her confidence,” said coach Andy Wesley.

With two regulars missing to compete in a band competition, JV members Tarra Baird (55) and Dana Cornejo (66) “really stepped up their game in spite of being so nervous,” said Wesley.

Baird’s total was fourth-best out of 23 golfers.

Cassidy Gurich rounded out the Oak Harbor score with a 57.

Oak Harbor and Shorewood go to Everett at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9.
