Oak Harbor sophomore Annie Leete used a strong effort in the Western Conference 3A girls championship meet at the Whidbey Golf and Country Club Tuesday, May 8, to capture the individual league title.
As a team, the Wildcats finished fourth at the league meet and fifth in the final Wesco standings.
Leete collected 57 Stableford points to finish second in the Wesco meet behind Shorewood medalist Cassie McKinley at 61.
The second-place finish gave Leete 53 league points for a conference-best season total of 171. Everett’s Jody Barhonovich followed with 168.
Golfers earned 24 league points for finishing first in one of the five three-team league matches; second place earned 23, etc. The winner of Tuesday’s conference championship tournament received 54, second 53, etc.
Shorewood won the league meet with 209 Stableford points; Oak Harbor had 168.
Leete’s efforts earned her a spot on the Wesco all-league first team.
Teammate junior Bree Roderos finished 11th in the league point standings to earn second-team honors after an eighth-place finish in the Wesco championships with 43 Stableford points.
Oak Harbor junior Katie Brockway had 19 Stableford points in the league meet, freshman Hannah Crouse 14, junior KC Winfield 13 and sophomore Cassidy Gurich nine.
Coach Andy Wesley said, “Annie has been sold all year long leading the team. I am looking forward to seeing how she plays at districts next week. Everyone has improved throughout the year and I am very pleased with that.”
