Oak Harbor’s Liberty Cheer team has completed another highly successful season.
In February the senior coed team, consisting of 21 girls and 3 boys all ages 18-and-under, from Coupeville, Anacortes and Oak Harbor, repeated as state champions at the Washington State Coaches Association State Championship at Ballard High School.
Competing in the limited coed division of four or less boys on the team, Liberty Cheer blew away the competition in level three with a masterful display of skills as governed by the United States All Star Federation.
Prior to the state championship competition, the team won two first place trophies and one second place at other meets in Washington.
Liberty also finished third at the Pac West Nationals in Portland.
Following the state championship, the team traveled to Anaheim, Calif., to compete in the American Championship Showcase Nationals.
The senior coed team brought home the sixth place trophy, but this time around it was the Liberty Cheer mini-youth teams that brought the first place trophies.
Made up of 15 girls and one boy all ages 8 and under, the mini-team won the small gym mini level two division, competing against teams from Colorado, California and Washington.
The mini-team tuned up for the nationals by winning three first place trophies at Washington meets, finished fourth in the WSCCA championship and finished fourth at the Pac West Nationals.
The 11-member youth team made up of nine girls and two boys ages 11 and under were champions in the small gym level three division.
This team also won two first place trophies and one second place in Washington meets, and finished third in the WSCCA and the Pac West championships.
Individually, the mini stunt team of Olivia Paquette, Sarah Paquette, Brittany Kairez, Abby Seelow and Scott Sevieri were national champions in their respective division.
Angel Williams earned a sec-
ond-place finish in age 8 cheer solo, and Mariella Saludares was fourth in age 6 and 7 cheer solo.
Zaiha Sams finished in fifth place in age 9 cheer solo and Au-
drey Holzrichter was sixth in cheer solo for those 5-and-under.
Jember Jansen rounded out the soloists with a seventh place finish in the age 12 division.
