Marysville scores late to defeat soccer team

The Marysville-Pilchuck girls’ soccer team, held in check by the Wildcats for 60 minutes, broke through for four late goals to defeat visiting Oak Harbor Thursday.

The Tomahawks, who have only lost to the state’s number one team, Everett, finally scored against the tenacious Wildcats in the 60th minute on what OHHS coach Jeff Laiblin called “a beautifully set play” to break open the 0-0 match.

Laiblin said his team continues to improve and play better soccer. “With the changes we are putting into play, we are seeing positive stuff,” he said.

Oak Harbor, now 0-6, goes to Cascade, 0-4-1, Tuesday and hosts Snohomish, 2-2, Thursday.
