Oak Harbor’s record-breaking running back Josiah Miller signed a letter of intent this week to play football at Central Washington University.

Miller recorded a stellar career at OHHS, setting single-season and career touchdown records for the Wildcats. He was also first-team all-Wesco as a running back, defensive back and kick returner his junior and senior seasons.

The versatile Miller said that Central plans to initially use him as a running back or slot receiver, but he could also end up on defense.

Miller visited the Central campus in Ellensburg last weekend and enjoyed the experience: “It’s a small town like Oak Harbor and I really like the campus.”

He added, “Central was always one of my top schools if I didn’t go to a Division I school.”

Oak Harbor head coach Jay Turner said the DI schools shied away from the 5-9, 145-pound Miller because of his size.

He added, “Josiah is a top-notch athlete with pretty amazing football abilities. He has the best football instincts I have ever seen.”

Miller, one of the state’s top sprinters, said Central would also like him to compete for its track team.

He plans to study kinesiology and physical therapy.

Miller will be reunited with former high-school teammate Nick Rouser, on offensive lineman, at Central.
