A defensive breakdown led to the match’s only goal as Marysville Getchell slipped by the Oak Harbor High School soccer team 1-0 Friday, April 25, at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.

Oak Harbor dominated play in the first half and had several excellent opportunities to score but couldn’t hit the back of the net. One shot thumped off the cross bar and another whacked the right post.

The Wildcats did not play as well in the second half, according to coach Brian Thompson, and the Chargers’ Devon Green took advantage of a defensive miscue to score with 10 minutes left in the match.

Oak Harbor (3-6, 5-6-1) looks to break a four-match losing streak when it goes to Everett (0-9, 0-11-1) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29.
