Mooki 33rd, Sligh 37th at state tournament | Girls golf

Oak Harbor High School junior Resego Mooki placed 33d and senior Marisa Sligh 37th to help the Wildcats finish ninth at the 3A girls state golf tournament at the Horn Rapids Golf Course in Richland Wednesday and Thursday, May 27 and 28.

Both Wildcats shot a 97 the second day, which hurt Mooki but helped Sligh.

Mooki, with an 88 in the first round, was in 19th place heading into Thursday. Sligh shot a 94 Wednesday and was in 39th place; she was the final player to make the cut.

Oak Harbor senior Hailey Beecher carded a 96 in round one and missed the cut by two strokes. She finished 43rd.

Oak Harbor scored 11.5 points to place ninth in the tournament. Mercer Island won the 3A title with 100 points.
