Both teams scored in every inning, but visiting Archbishop Murphy put up more crooked numbers in a 16-6 win over the Oak Harbor High School softball team Tuesday, April 2.
Murphy (2-2, 4-5) pounded out 18 hits, including seven doubles — three players hit a pair each — in the Wesco win.
After Murphy scored three times in the top of the first, Oak Harbor scored once in its half. Miranda Wilson and Cierra LeGendre each hit singles, and Wilson eventually scored on a ground out.
The visitors scored six times in the top of the second thanks to a sequence of four doubles in the span of five hitters.
Again, Oak Harbor responded with one run. Eleanor Tucker led off with a double and scored on an error.
Murphy tacked on three runs in the third inning, then Oak Harbor continued its one-run trend. Wilson singled, moved to third on a pair of errors and stole home.
Archbishop Murphy tallied once in the fourth to make it 13-3, and Oak Harbor countered with two runs on singles by Ceirra Dean and Sam Scott and an error.
Murphy collected its final three runs in the fifth and Oak Harbor mustered only one in the bottom half. Maddy Tucker singled and scored on Dean’s base hit.
Wilson and Dean each finished with two hits; Scott, LeGendre and the Tuckers had one each.
Oak Harbor (1-3, 3-7) entertains Shorewood (0-3, 5-4) at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 9.
