Cole Weinstein earned Swimmer of the Meet honors for the North Whidbey Aquatic Club at the Lake Stevens Mile Sunday, Nov. 14.

Weinstein, who paced astutely in the 500 (splits of 5:24, 5:27, 5:23), dropped 1:23 to go 17:50.01 and make both Pacific Northwest Swimming (PNS) Championships and Age Group Sectional (AGS) 15-and-older boys qualifying times.

Also making PNS and AGS cuts was 12-year-old Marissa Morris, who dropped 1:16 to go 10:21.01.

Ten-year-old Ethan Tack improved by the greatest margin, lowering his time by almost four minutes to 20:51.90.

Jacob Jepsen, Josh Jepsen and Joey Jepsen all recorded PR’s.

Nicole Vogt, Autumn Robinson and Michelle Robinson all made the PNS Silver standard in their first attempt at the longest race in competitive pool swimming. Alli Hoffmire and Kelsey Vogt also completed their first miles, and Toren Wood won his heat.

NWAC next competes Nov. 20 and 21 at the Kamiak Age Group Invitational at Kamiak High School, where it will field a team of 32 athletes.

The NWAC is a competitive swimming program of the North Whidbey Park and Recreation District. It includes swimmers of all abilities and ages from 6 through college. Tryouts occur Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the city pool from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m.

New swimmers should be able to swim a length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke. The first two weeks are free.
