NWLL slugs way to 17-11 win | 10/11 baseball

After a tough, last-inning loss to Sedro-Woolley Tuesday, July 5, the North Whidbey 10/11 all-star team slugged eight extra base hits en route to a 17-11 win over South Skagit Wednesday at Windjammer Park.

After a tough, last-inning loss to Sedro-Woolley Tuesday, July 5, the North Whidbey 10/11 Little League all-star team slugged eight extra base hits en route to a 17-11 win over South Skagit Wednesday at Windjammer Park.

North Whidbey now plays South Whidbey in a loser-out game Thursday, July 7, at 6 p.m. at Windjammer Park. The winner moves on to the championship series with Sedro-Woolley Friday and Saturday.

In all, NWLL collected 13 hits in its win over South Skagit. Ewan Preedit led the way with four hits, including two doubles, a triple and three runs batted in. Dominic Stevens added an inside-the-park home run and a double for five RBI.

Paul Southerland and Jacob McMurdo each had two singles,  a double and an RBI. Kenneth Morrow chipped in with a double, and Eli Bryson had a single.

Sedro-Woolley came back to defeat North Whidbey 9-6 in the tournament opener Tuesday. NWLL took a 6-3 lead into the sixth inning only to see the margin wiped away by a series of walks and errors. Sedro-Woolley had just one hit in the six-run inning.

Stevens led the North Whidbey offense with a pair of hits. Bryson added a triple and scored two runs. Ryan Evans and Zane Polston ripped doubles.
