Oak Harbor captures fourth in first Wesco match / Girls golf

In weather fit for Reindeer Games, the Oak Harbor High School girls golf team placed fourth out of seven Wesco North teams at the Whidbey Golf Club Tuesday, March 28.

Marysville-Pilchuck won the opening league competition with 262 strokes over nine holes, two shots in front of cross-town rival Maryville Getchell. Snohomish finished at 281, Oak Harbor 284 and Arlington 318. Everett and Stanwood each had only four golfers and did not qualify for a team score.

M-P’s Natalia Zieroth shot a 10-over 46 to earn medalist honors in the field of 38.

Oak Harbor was paced by Jessica Monaghan and Kayleigh Burbank, who tied for 11th at 53.

Wildcat Makalyn Miller carded 56, Cana Cornejo 60, Beth Paul 62 and Avery Roberts 65.

Oak Harbor’s March 30 match with Sedro-Woolley was cancelled.

The Wildcats go to the Gleneagle Golf Course in Arlington at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, for the next Wesco North match.
