Winless Shorecrest gave the visiting Oak Harbor High School volleyball team a fight, but the Wildcats prevailed 3-0 Monday, Oct. 24, to clinch a spot in the postseason.
The win was the Wildcats third straight and locked up at least eighth place in the Western Conference for Oak Harbor (5-6, 6-7); the top nine teams advance to the playoffs.
Oak Harbor will play a play-in, elimination match on the road at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27. The Wildcats’ opponent has not been determined, but it will most likely be Meadowdale, Shorewood or Edmonds-Woodway.
That winner will advance to the eight-team, double-elimination portion of the tournament that begins Tuesday, Nov. 1. The first four teams earn trips to the state tournament.
The final regular season matches are Tuesday, Oct. 25. Oak Harbor hosts Everett (2-9, 2-11) at 7 p.m. in its finale.
Shorecrest (0-11, 0-13) hasn’t won a match all season, but the Scots pushed the Wildcats to extra points in the first two sets in the 3-0 match: 26-24, 27-25, 25-16.
Hailee Blau powered Oak Harbor with 16 kills and 6.5 blocks.
Cami Bristow added nine kills, two blocks and 13 digs; Andrea Rubin had 30 assists; and Lauren May collected four aces and 12 digs.
