Forty-three Oak Harbor and Coupeville high school fall athletes received all-league honors, the Western Conference and North Sound Conference announced recently.
Twenty-nine Wildcats were on the Wesco lists, and 10 were first-team selections.
Coupeville picked up 14 NSC honors, including nine first-team choices. Three of those were earned by junior Sean Toomey-Stout, who was named to the football first-team as a running back, defensive back and return specialist.
The Oak Harbor football team led the Wildcats with 15 awards.
Senior Dorian Hardin earned first-team honors as both an offensive and defensive back. He was also a first-team choice as a defensive back as a junior and honorable mention as a sophomore.
Senior Aaron Martinez was a first-team pick at linebacker; he was second team in 2017.
Other first team selections were seniors Ethan Pace (offensive line) and De’Andre Bennett (defensive line).
Sophomore Caden Leckelt was a second-team choice as both a running back and linebacker. Juniors Michael Gomez (offensive line) and Calvin Whelpley (defensive line) were other second-teamers.
Earning honorable mention were seniors Michael Fisken, Caleb Fitzgerald and Brandon McCollough and sophomores Brecken Collins, Jake Mitten and Brenden Andersen.
For Coupeville, Toomey-Stout was joined on the North Sound Conference first team by senior linebacker Alex Turner and senior defensive lineman Dane Lucero.
Second-team picks were seniors Ryan Labrador (offensive line), Shane Losey (linebacker) and Matt Stevens (defensive line) and junior Gavin Knoblich (tight end).
Five Oak Harbor volleyball players picked up honors.
Senior setter Leah Quidachay and sophomore outside hitter Morgan Pease were first-team selections. Pease was the only underclassman named to the first team.
Senior hitter Cami Bristow and senior libero Ceirra Dean were second-team choices, and junior Leielle Salinger was honorable mention.
Bristow and Dean were honorable mention in 2017.
Coupeville’s volleyball team was represented on the first team by senior middle blocker Emma Smith and junior outside hitter Maya Toomey-Stout. Junior Scout Smith was the second-team setter.
Coach Cory Whitmore earned Coach of the Year honors.
In tennis, Oak Harbor junior Nick Krantz earned first-team honors in singles, while the Franklin brothers, junior Micah and freshman Ezra, were first team in doubles.
The North Sound Conference does not offer tennis, so Coupeville competed in the Emerald City League where it received the team sportsmanship award.
Oak Harbor cross country runner senior Alexis Smith earned first-team honors for the third consecutive year. Junior Dallas Riddle-Stevens was a second-team choice on the all-Wesco North boys team.
Oak Harbor had four girls receive honorable mention in soccer: senior Jessica Vester, juniors Mikhaela Cortez and Peyton Rhyne, and sophomore Jada Matthews. Rhyne was also honorable mention last year.
For Coupeville, senior forward Lindsey Roberts and junior defender Tia Wurzrainer were first-teamers.
