Oak Harbor defeats Cascade | Swimming

The Oak Harbor High School swim and dive team stopped Cascade 100-82 at Forest Park Pool in Everett Tuesday, Oct. 13.

The Wildcats raised their record to 6-2. Their next meet is their final home meet, facing Mount Vernon (4-1-1) at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at John Vanderzicht Pool.

Oak Harbor produced a pair of double winners at Cascade. Taliah Black won the 200 individual medley (2:27.84) and 100 breaststroke (1:15.45), while Marissa Morris won the 200 freestyle (2:09.88) and 100 backstroke (1:05.89).

Black was also on the winning 200 medley relay team with Baelee Whitinger, Muriel Empinado and Erica Sugatan (2:08.37).

Sugatan won the 100 butterfly (1:09.98).

Other highlights, according to coach Erin Bull, were Whitinger cutting 17 seconds in the 500 free, swimming 6:48, only three seconds off a district qualifying time; and Jada Rennes dropping three seconds in the 50 free.
