The shorthanded Oak Harbor High School soccer team lost 6-2 at Stanwood Friday, April 20.
The two teams played to a 0-0 tie March 10, but scoring wasn’t a problem this time around as the Spartans (1-7-1, 1-10-2) picked up their first win of the season and the Wildcats (0-10, 0-13-1) remained winless.
Both Oak Harbor goals came from long range as Mason Rhodes scored from 40 yards out and Diego Aranguri-Plummer hit from 25 yards.
With a depleted roster, Oak Harbor coach Jeff Laiblin used one of his goalies, Max Brighton, in the field.
Brighton responded by playing “a great game,” according to Laiblin.
Laiblin also praised Brandon McCracken who had “his best game of the season in the midfield.”
“Hopefully our sick players and other players missing will be back Friday when we take on first-place Pilchuck,” Laiblin said. “We will need all hands on deck.”
Oak Harbor hosts the Tomahawks (8-1, 10-1-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 27.
