Both the Oak Harbor and Marysville-Pilchuck high school soccer teams squandered opportunities to score and had to settle for a 1-1 tie at Wildcat Memorial Stadium Wednesday, Oct. 1.
The Wildcats have been plagued by slow starts this season, and M-P (1-2-2, 1-5-3) added to the misery when Chelsie McAdoo scored just minutes into the match.
Two and a half minutes into the second half, Oak Harbor’s Mary Johnston slipped through a handful of defenders to net Oak Harbor’s lone goal.
Over the next minute, the Wildcats created two more strong scoring opportunities but misfired.
Oak Harbor also missed on two excellent chances late in regulation when it failed to convert crosses into an open goal.
The two clubs battled through two scoreless five-minute overtime sessions, again unable to pound home the winner.
Oak Harbor (0-3-2, 4-3-2) plays Meadowdale (0-3-1, 1-4-2) at Edmonds Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9.
