Oak Harbor swim team heads to district finals Saturday

The district finals take place Saturday, Feb. 13, at Kamiak beginning at 12:30 p.m. The top three finishers in each event, along with those with state-qualifying times, will advance to the state meet at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way Feb. 19 and 20.

The Wildcats posted four state-qualifying times Thursday, and Price Hu earned two of those marks. He clocked a 2:04.66 and finished seventh in the 200-yard individual medley preliminaries. He was fourth in 54.97 in the 100 butterfly.

Yale Rosen was one of nine swimmers who met state times in the 100 breaststroke when he swam to eighth in 1:03.7.

The fourth Wildcat state time came when Rosen was joined by Jacob Jepsen, Brandon Vagt and Matt Bolte to finish sixth in the 200 medley relay in 1:43.72.

Rosen also qualified seventh in the 50 free in 23.28.

Jepsen placed fourth in the 100 backstroke (57.53), and Bolte was ninth in the 100 free (52.12).

Josh Jepsen grabbed fifth in the 500 free (5:12.1), and teamed with his brother Jacob, Hu, and Devin Schell to finish ninth in the 400 free relay (3:36.05).

Bolte, Ben Cardinal, Hu and Jacob Jepsen were fifth in the 200 free relay (1:34.7).
