“A small contingent of the Oak Harbor track team capped its spring vacation with some outstanding efforts last Saturday at the Davis Invitational in Yakima.^Molly Bull and Scott Sebens each won an event. Bull captured the long jump with a season-best leap of 16 feet, 9 1/4 inches. She made that leap on her last jump to beat Wenatchee’s Bonnie Lenderman, who had gone 6-8.^Bull also had a personal best time of 2:23.2 in the 800 meters. The effort gave her third place.^Sebens was first in the 800 meters with a season best time of 1:58.7. He was a close second in the 1,600 with a season best time of 4:22.6. Max Schmidt of Spokane’s University was first in the 1,600 with a time of 4:20.8.^Bull also ran on the 1,600 meter relay, which had a season best time of 4:12.3. Sheena Darling, Lesley TePaske and Chauntelle Johnson completed the relay team.^Other personal bests by the girls came from Yuki Norton, Maile Venable, and Christina Cooper. Norton was fourth in the freshmen-sophomore 100 high hurdles with a time of 17.9. Venable was fourth in the freshmen-sophomore 1,600 with a time of 5:39.6., and Cooper was sixth in the freshmen-sophomore 100 with a time of 13.6.^In the boys’ meet, the 1,600 relay of Jeremy Morgan, Adam Shelly, Brandon Hill, and Jashton Cavitt won their heat but finished second with a time of 3:27.7. Davis, which edged Decatur in the first heat, beat Oak Harbor’s time by 8 tenths of a second.^Stefan Kulpa was first in the freshmen-sophomore 110 high hurdles with a personal best time of 15.9. James Richie, also competing in the freshmen-sophomore category, was first in the 100 with a season best time of 11.7.^Jon Garcia, competing in the freshmen-sophomore pole vault, finished fourth with his personal best of 11 feet.^WILDCAT NETTERS WIN AGAIN: Oak Harbor swept the singles and the first two doubles Monday to cruise by host Marysville-Pilchuck 6-1 in a 4-A Western Conference girls’ tennis match.^Stacie Pate, Theresa Black, Charissa Brecht, and Elizabeth Galbraith won their matches in two sets. Jenna Wehrell and Nicole Nolte won the No. 1 doubles, and Maggie Manucal and Natasha Kroh captured the No. 2 doubles.^Oak Harbor boosted its league record to 6-1. The Wildcats play at Shorewood Thursday.^WOLVES FALL IN SEVENTH: La Conner, taking advantage of two costly Coupeville errors in the bottom of the seventh inning, rallied for a 6-5 Northwest A League slowpitch victory over the visiting Wolves.^Coupeville, missing five starters because of spring vacation, led 5-2 going into the seventh. Leslie Coonc, who hit a two-run triple to tie the game, later scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Ashley Fejeran.^The loss was Coupeville’s fifth of the season, the fourth by one run.^We had some young kids who made some good plays, and some young plays, Coupeville coach Randy Dickson said.^SHOREWOOD STOPS WILDCATS: Andrew Pugmire scored two goals Monday as host Shorewood defeated Oak Harbor 4-1 in a 4-A Western Conference soccer game.^Brian Gliniak scored Oak Harbor’s goal. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Wildcats, who host unbeaten Snohomish tonight.^The loss dropped Oak Harbor’s league record to 2-1 and season mark to 5-3-1. Snohomish is 1-0 in league and 6-0-1 on the season.^OAK HARBOR BLANKED: Marysville-Pilchuck, behind the pitching of Mike Moser, blanked visiting Oak Harbor 7-0 last Friday in a 4-A Western Conference baseball game.^Moser allowed just two hits and struck out 10. Jeff Carlson had two hits, one a home run, and drove in five runs for Marysville-Pilchuck.^Oak Harbor, 1-2 in league play at 5-5 overall, plays at Sehome today and then entertains the Bellingham school Thursday.^GOLFERS TAKE SIXTH: The Oak Harbor boys’ golf team finished sixth Monday in a 4-A Western Conference Invitational at the Bellingham Golf and Country Club.^Shane Wells and Duse Dronen each shot 76s to lead the Wildcats.^Kamiak, first in the team standings, was led by co-medalists Travis Stoddard and Sam Pauley. Each shot 73s.^The Oak Harbor girls’ golf team hosts South Whidbey today at Whidbey Golf and Country Club. The boys team plays at the Triple Six tournament in Mount Vernon.^”
