Continuing to struggle on offense, the Oak Harbor High School baseball team lost 4-0 at Sehome High School in Bellingham Saturday, March 22.

The Wildcats have scored only three runs while opening the season with three losses.

Oak Harbor begins league play this week, hosting Shorecrest (1-2) at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 26.

Against Sehome, Wildcat starting pitcher Danny Wolfe threw a solid game, but was touched for two runs in each of the first and fifth innings.

A walk, Wolfe’s only of the game, single and error helped the Mariners (1-3) score in the first. An error and two two-out singles produced two tallies in the fifth.

Wolfe gave up six his and struck out two.

Clay Doughty was the only Oak Harbor baserunner over the first four innings, being hit by a pitch in the second and singling in the fourth.

The Wildcats threatened in the fifth and sixth. Wolfe drew a one-out walk in the fifth, then two-out singles by Casiano Atienza and Nate Stanford loaded the bases. A ground out ended the inning.

With one out in the sixth, Doughty doubled and Brandon Bailey singled but both were stranded.

The Mariners’ Josh Zavisubin threw a complete game five-hitter, striking out four and walking two.
