Sophomore Jillian Pape’s 13th place in the 50-yard freestyle led the Oak Harbor High School swim team’s effort at the state 3A meet at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way Nov. 13 and 14.
Pape swam the 50 in 25.35 and added a 20th in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.01.
Pape also competed on two relay teams that finished 22nd.
She joined Baelee Whitinger, Taliah Black and Erica Sugatan in the 200 medley relay (1:59.78); and Mariel Empinado, Black and Sugatan in the 200 free relay (1:49.14).
Black was the only other Wildcat to swim in an individual event, placing 21st in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.06). The sophomore also finished 21st last year (1:13.98).
Senior Marissa Morris qualified for the meet, the fourth in her career, but was unable to compete because of family obligations.
This was the second straight state meet for Pape, Black and Sugatan, who swam on qualifying relay teams in 2014.
