Oak Harbor Wildcats sailing team swept a home doubleheader Sunday against Bellingham and Sehome.
After a lengthy delay waiting for wind, the Wildcats got to work, sweeping the best-of-five race series with Bellingham. Oak Harbor secured a 1-2 finish in each race, the most dominant finish possible in team racing.
Following a brief break to allow Bellingham to hand their boats to Sehome, racing continued. Oak Harbor continued its strong showing, sweeping Sehome with three 1-2 wins.
Both series were sailed by the same lineup. In boat 1, skipper Thomas Buys and Andrew Buys. Boat 2, Ben Servatius and Liam Chapman. Boat 3, Ryan Metz and EJ Boilek.
After the official series were completed, Oak Harbor and Sehome raced in three unofficial scrimmages, all of which were won by Oak Harbor.
Anna Servatius and Allison Bailey both raced in all three scrimmages, with Thomas Buys, Andrew Buys, Chapman and Metz all taking at least one scrimmage off.
On Saturday, Oak Harbor swept Sehome 3-0 in Bellingham Bay Saturday.
That day’s starting lineup of skippers Tommy Buys, Ben Servatius and Metz and crews Andrew Buys, Chapman and Boilek expertly carved through 2-3 foot swells and big breeze to extend their team record win streak.
Senior Henry Booth, Sophomore Allison Bailey, and Freshman Anna Servatius all raced in the two unofficial scrimmages.
A scheduled series against Bellingham High School Saturday was canceled due to dangerous conditions, It will not be rescheduled.
Oak Harbor is 5-0 in regattas, 14-0 in official races, and 21-0 in all competitions.
