The Oak Harbor High School volleyball team couldn’t parlay a first-game win into a victory, losing 3-1 at Lynnwood Thursday, Sept. 17, in the conference opener.

The Wildcats eked out a 27-25 win in the first set, but the Royals (1-0, 2-1) recovered to win the next three, 25-18, 25-15, 25-18.

Claire Anderson rapped out 14 kills and collected 15 digs; Hailee Blau had 13 kills and a block; Geslyne Barreta added eight kills and 18 digs; and Janae Payne finished with three aces, 37 assists and seven digs.

Oak Harbor (0-1, 0-3) hosts Arlington (0-1, 1-2) at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21.
