The Everett High School softball team, which finished second in the state 3A tournament last spring, made it evident it has the talent to make another run at the title again this year with a 22-0 win in five innings in Oak Harbor Friday, March 25.

The Seagulls (1-0, 4-0) scored nine runs, all unearned, in the first two innings with the help of five Wildcat errors.

Oak Harbor committed another error in the third inning when Everett added five more runs, three earned.

Oak Harbor’s defense tightened up after that, but the Everett offense kept rolling. The Seagulls plated eight runs on 10 hits in the fifth inning.

Everett finished with 22 hits. Five Seagulls had multiple-hit games, led by Gabby Koehler and Karissa Johnson with three hits each.

Meanwhile, Everett pitcher Sydney Taggart limited Oak Harbor to one hit, a first-inning single by Shea Davis. Taggart struck out nine and walked two.

The Seagulls have scored 15 or more runs in three of their four games this season.

Oak Harbor (0-1, 1-4) hosts Arlington (1-0, 1-2) at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 29.
