Senior Madison Tisa-McPhee ended her stellar Coupeville High School track career with third- and fifth-place finishes at the state 1A meet Friday and Saturday, May 24 and 25, at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.

Tisa-McPhee captured third in the 100 hurdles in 16.75. Newport’s Arielle Walden won in 16.16. Tisa-McPhee placed eighth in the event at state as a sophomore in 2011.

Tisa-McPhee teamed up with senior Jai’Lysa Hoskins and freshmen Sylvia Hurlburt and Makana Stone to take fifth in the 4×200 relay in 1:47.65. Connell took the title in 1:45.98.

In the 300 hurdles, Tisa-McPhee ran 12th in 49.91 in the preliminaries and didn’t advance to the finals. Kendra Sanford of Rochester went on to win the event in 45.57.

Coupeville’s other entry in the meet, the 4×100 team of sophomore Marisa Etzell, Hoskins, Hurlburt and Stone placed 11th in 52.09 in the preliminaries and didn’t reach the finals. Connell also won this relay, clocking 50.63.

As a team, the Coupeville girls scored 10 points, good for 26th. Cedar Park Christian of Bothell won with 67.

The state meted ended a record-setting year for the Wolves. The relay teams broke the Coupeville High School records several times during the season, posting the best marks at last week’s tri-district meet. The 4×100 foursome ran 51.31 while the 4×200 group clocked a 1:47.27.

Tisa-McPhee set the CHS 300 hurdle mark of 48.01 at tri-district.
