Seven Oak Harbor High School wrestlers reached the podium at the 14-team Spud Walley Invitational in Sedro-Woolley Saturday, Dec. 9.
Blake McBride (145 pounds) paced the Wildcats by placing second. Michael Fisken (285) nabbed third; Caleb Fitzgerald (126), Jamal Graham (106) and Shamus Warden (113) were fourth; and Giovanni Ribay (132) and Ethan Pace (182) finished sixth.
“(It) went well,” coach Larry Falcon said. “(We) are still growing and getting to our potential.”
While varsity was putting in a nice showing in Sedro-Woolley, the junior varsity was shining in a JV tournament in Snohomish.
Jakob Dailey, Grace Chargualaf, Elizabeth Clairmont and Taylor Cress all won titles.
Corbyn Taylor and DeAndre Bennett took home second place, while Evan Beerbower, Hunter Hogarth and Salvador Tirado each placed third.
All the Wildcats won at least one match, according to Falcon, and Cheyanne Winchester collected her first career win.
Oak Harbor (1-2) opens Wesco North action when it hosts Snohomish (1-2) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12.
