Oak Harbor High School senior Alexis Smith placed 35th and junior Dallas Riddle-Stevens 47th at the state 3A cross country meet Saturday, Nov. 3, at Pasco’s Sun Willows Golf Course.
Smith, competing in her third consecutive state meet, ran the three-mile course in 19:55.3. Smith worked her way up the field as the race progressed. She was in 73rd out of 151 after the first mile and 51st after the second.
Last year, Smith placed 51st in 19:30.3. As a sophomore, she took 50th in 19:59.9.
Allie Janke of Spokane’s North Central High School won the girls race in 17:59.1.
Riddle-Stevens basically held his spot throughout the race, running in 48th out of 161 after the first mile and 46th after the second. He finished in a time of 16:40.5.
Riddle-Stevens placed 100th last fall in 16:52.5.
Kennewick’s Johan Correa claimed the boys 3A crown with a 15:26.4.
