After two close losses, the Coupeville boys soccer team thumped visiting Granite Falls 6-1 Thursday, March 25.

Coach Paul Mendes said, “It was good to see the scoring come from a number of players; we look like a balanced team.”

Jordan Lamb, assisted by Spencer Tack, hit the net first at the 5-minute mark.

After the two tense losses earlier in the season, Mendes said, “It helped to get that early goal. We played a little looser after that.”

At the 18-minute mark, Tack and Lamb reversed roles: Tack scored on Lamb’s assist.

Granite Falls (0-2, 1-3) narrowed the gap to 2-1 with a goal at 23 minutes.

Justin Adams got Coupeville back on the board with an assist from Lamb at 30 minutes.

Ben Hayes, with help from Garrett Knoll, scored at 37 minutes, then added an unassisted goal at 45.

Jack Caselden finished the scoring at the 50-minute mark.

Mendes said it was a “boost to get a win in a league game.”

The Wolves are 1-1 in Cascade Conference action, 1-2 for the year.
