Running club seeks new members

The North Whidbey Park and Recreation District sponsored Whidbey Island Running Club is recruiting for the spring/summer track program.

All boys and girls in kindergarden through sixth grades are welcome to come to tryouts at City Beach at 3:30 on Mondays and 3:45 on Fridays through February. The first two practices are free.

Come join Whidbey Island’s only running program for kids.

Tulip tournament in Mount Vernon

The Skagit County Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting registrations for the 17th annual Tulip Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament March 27 through March 29 in Mount Vernon. The tournament consists of divisions for fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth-grade, 6th boys and girls teams.

The team entry fee is $225, and teams are guaranteed four games.

Teams will be accepted on a first paid basis.

Safe boating class begins in March

The Deception Pass Sail and Power Squadron hosts a six-session boating course from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Wednesday beginning March 2.

Classes will be held in Hayes Hall, room 112, at Skagit Valley College in Oak Harbor.

Cost is $25 per student and includes books. Spouses or family members who use the same set of books are charged $13.

New class session at Moving & Grooving

Moving & Grooving, a fun fitness center for kids, starts its new session of classes Tuesday, Feb. 17.

The business has been in operation for 18 years and is locally owned and operated.

Classes offered include sports, tumbling and fitness, and are open to kids ages three through nine.
